Event Description
Susanna Lee | Stand-Up Comedy

Susanna Lee is a standup comic, storyteller, and patron saint to provocateurs everywhere.
She’s been touring professionally since August 20, 1996, when Kramer International
Entertainment group booked her on the “You Laugh, You Lose” college comedy tour. It was every
bit as demoralizing as the title of the show would suggest, but her passion for comedy survived,
and in September 2017, Susanna Lee gave her first TED talk at TEDxKU, on the University of
Kansas campus, where she’s also guest lectured multiple times on the artistry of standup
comedy.
She’s lived quite an uncommon life outside of being a touring comedian, with time spent
performing with a circus sideshow, teaching yoga, and navigating the sex industry, all of which
have contributed to the unique and highly engaging presence for which she’s known and loved.
Susanna has been a guest on a ton of podcasts, including Joey "Coco" Diaz's "The Church Of
What's Happening Now", “Risk! True Tales Boldly Told”, “Bawdy Storytelling”, and "The Mental
Illness Happy Hour" with Paul Gilmartin. She’s been seen on “Girls Behaving Badly” (Oxygen
Network), “Party Legends” (Viceland), “America’s Court”, “Brides of Beverly Hills”, and for a brief
second, “Last Comic Standing” (NBC/Universal).
Susanna created, produced, and starred in the webseries, "Peeping Comics", which featured her
interviewing well-known comedians inside a booth at the last functional peepshow in America.
She also co-produced and starred in the subsequent documentary about it, called "Pervs", which
was featured at the 2015 LA Comedy Festival, won “Best Documentary” in the 2017 LA Femme
Film Fest. It is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
She's performed in numerous festivals, including the Chicago, Bridgetown, Riot Grrrl, and Ventura
Comedy Festivals; the Show-Me, Southern Fried, Best Of The Midwest, Colorado, New Orleans,
and New York Burlesque Festivals and also held a headlining spot in the 2013 New Zealand
Burlesque Fest. She has competed and lost in the San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland comedy
competitions.
Notable point of pride: She emceed and performed at Norman Lear’s 93rd birthday party, where
she received a standing ovation from the father of the modern-day sitcom, himself.
