The Annual Russian 7-string Guitar Festival (IARGUS) is celebrating its 10th anniversary! This is the only festival in the world dedicated to the revival of the Russian 7-string guitar tradition.
Once again, IARGUS will bring new excellent musicians as well as familiar favorites. There will be exciting virtuosic music for the Russian 7-string Guitar -- both classical and in the Russian Gypsy style. Iowa City favorite Vadim Kolpakov will be back. Brilliant performer Maxim Lysov will be joining us from Germany for the first time. The amazing Klezmer Duo Controverso from Chicago, which captivated audiences last year, will be part of the festival again. Versatile guitarist Igor Golger (from Moscow via Japan and now from Boston) will be joining us for the first time, together with his wife and duet partner Hiroko Hajimoto, who will perform music for Japanese Flute for us. And much more!
If you have been to the Russian Guitar Festival before, you know that every concert brings Russian 7-string Guitar musicthat can be heard nowhere else, and that comes in many different musical styles. Additional guests enrich the mix, and every concert gives rise to new and exciting collaborations. You never know what you will hear, but you know that it will be exciting, interesting and fun! So don't miss it!
