Fresh Start Community Dialog: Music City

Just before the pandemic MIDWESTIX's consulting arm completed a study commissioned by Civic Music Association, and funded by the DSM Community Foundation, to assess the music economy ecosystem in Des Moines, how it could be strengthened, and the role CMA and other orgs could take to fill gaps and build on successes. DMMC also recently completed some strategic planning work with similar goals. 

Perhaps the quintessential finding of both of these studies was the lack of ongoing and collaborative communication among Des Moines' music industry doers. As stated by one colleague 'we lack connective tissue.' Post pandemic new collaborative energy has risen in our industry and there is an openness to building that connective tissue through several collaborative efforts. The simplest of these being to meet on a regular basis to share information to build a collective, supportive network to encourage growth. DMMC, MIDWESTIX and Central Iowa Blues Society are hosting an initial meeting to discuss how to build this support system together and decide on a framework for ongoing relationship building. Please join us. There are lots of great ideas, genuine collaborative energy and momentum in the industry at the moment and this is an excellent time to get together.
