Region 7B
Kessler Prairie Field Trip
Kessler Prairie - A Bur Oak Land Trust property
1:00 - 3:00 PM
Grinnell, Iowa

Join Jim and Kathy Kessler on an old, hilly farm south of Grinnell to see a wonderful example of tallgrass prairie and oak savanna. After 22 years of restoration work, the property hosts over 270 local native species present. Native bee, butterfly, songbird and other vertebrate wildlife populations have significantly increased as the quality of diverse habitats improved. In 2017, 26 acres were donated to the Bur Oak Land Trust for perpetual management and protection.

Field trips may be subject to adverse weather. Field trip leaders will contact attendees if severe weather is an issue.
