Region 1B
Broken Kettle Grasslands - Stevenson Family Preserve
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Westfield, Iowa

Visit the extensive Loess Hills prairie ridge tops of The Nature Conservancy’s Broken Kettle Grasslands. This area features a variety of plants and animals typically found further west in the Great Plains, and also provides critical habitat for many species of prairie butterflies. The hike will focus on prairie management using fire and grazing.

The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Our mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Our vision is a world where the diversity of life thrives, and people act to conserve nature for its own sake and its ability to fulfill our needs and enrich our lives.
