Dave Maher Coma Show

Dave Maher is a comedian from Chicago and the creator of Dave Maher Coma Show, a narrative standup show about the monthlong diabetic coma he survived in 2014. He told the story on “This American Life” and wrote about the experience in a series of articles called “The Month I Died.”

Gapers Block called Dave a “smartly unhinged, wildly funny comedian with a big heart and warm smile,” and Newcity named him one of its “Players 2016: The Fifty People Who Really Perform for Chicago.” He also snagged features in the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Reader, who wrote, “I’d watch Maher do just about anything.”

Dave tours Dave Maher Coma Show around the U.S. and internationally, including a run at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe. He also performs standup and produces experimental comedy shows such as “Listen & Ask Questions: A Protest Show” (an improvised conversation with the audience), “Bracketology: The Tournament of Everything” (an argument-based game show), and the original musical What’s a Hamilton?: “Hamilton” Recreated By People Who’ve Never Seen Nor Heard “Hamilton.”

Dave works as a voiceover and on-camera actor, and he appeared on “Chicago Med” in the role of a homeless, uninsured alcoholic known as “Barry’s Gurney Guy.” (https://www.thisisdavemaher.com)
