Fred Love & The Bakersfield Brawl

Fred Love is an Americana singer, songwriter and guitarist from Ames, Iowa. He mixes country, blues and roots influences with a DIY/punk delivery to create a ruggedly original cowpunk approach. You can often find him setting up his guitar and microphone stand in an out-of-the-way watering hole on the plains, serving up his original compositions alongside classic numbers from the likes of Merle Haggard and Hank Williams.

While Fred often performs solo, he also teams up with drummer Cal Rebuhn and bassist Pat Blair to form a sizzling cowpunk three-piece known as Fred Love and the Bakersfield Brawl. This electrified approach amps up the energy and volume, offering a unique punk spin on the honky tonk sound. To be sure, the Bakersfield Brawl ain’t your grandpa’s country band!

Strong Like Bear

Strong Like Bear is a band from Ames, Iowa, that has played together since 2006. By writing melodic songs that show off their vocal harmonies and collective musicianship, SLB has become a mainstay in Iowa music, playing across the state and beyond. The band has recorded numerous EPs, singles, and albums, and their first foray into stoner rock, the full-length record In The Future, Only The Rich Will Live Forever.
