Badass Blues Broads

The name says it all. 5 Badass Blues Broads on one stage June 1st at Lefty's Live Music. That's right. East Meets West and Midwest at Lefty's on University. Hear's a little about each. 

Cindy Grill (Central Iowa):

Since January 2005, Hot Tamale & the Red Hots have been surprising blues music fans.  To date, they have opened for such national acts as Kelley Hunt, Grinderswitch, Harper, and Dr. John, as well as performing at such events as the Bowlful of Blues festival and Rollin On The River festival.  Keep watching to see what they do next! 

Annie Mack (Central Minnasota):

Jeni Grouws / Avey Grouws Band (Eastern Iowa):

Whether it's an intimate acoustic show or a rocking full electric band, powerhouse Jeni Grouws fills the room with soulful, soaring vocals. "She's a choir of angels on a runaway train."

Lisa Mann (Portland Oregon):

Originally from West Virginia, Mann’s vocals effortlessly straddle the line between the honey sweet warmth of the south, and the force-of-nature sound Mann has cultivated by mastering everything from hard rock to rhythm and blues. Her clever blues balladry is complimented by her considerable prowess on bass guitar. Her bass grooves touch on the hallowed soil of soul greats James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt.
